Online week 1 - Welcome to the new unit of work
Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a great weekend. Today marks the start of our next unit of work for both Grade 8 and Grade 9 classes.
I will also be posting a very quick 'Touching Base' activity later this week. This is simply an opportunity for me to practice using Google Forms and for me to hear back from ALL my students to make sure you are all able to access my blog, emails and lessons. I will post the link to this Google Form in an email, but I will alert you to this Google Form on this blog when it is ready.

Grade 8
Our new unit is...... MIX 'N' FLOW!!!
Please use this link to find an Introductory PowerPoint lesson. The PowerPoint includes a review of work from previous units and from last year, as well as practical activities and analysis questions.
Tomorrow, I will post another link with the remainder of this weeks' tasks.
Note: There is about 2.5 hours worth of work in this weeks' lessons, but the expectation is to complete about 30 minutes a day. However, it will be up to you how you will complete this work over the week.
Practical activities for this week are not mandatory. I am asking you to use common household materials and equipment, but I am also aware that some households might not have all equipment or may not want to use ingredients for an experiment. This is not a problem and this weeks' lessons can still be completed without having done the practical activities.
There is nothing to submit or send to me this week - these lessons are all for your own work.
Suggested guideline for lessons this week:
Monday - complete the States of Matter online quiz and the summary table (Part 1 from the PowerPoint)
Tuesday - Watch the video about Oobleks, answer the questions, make your Ooblek and complete the 'Making Observation' activities (Part 2 from the PowerPoint)
Wednesday - Consolidate Understanding (Part 3 from the PowerPoint)
Thursday - WHMIS Review
Friday - Good Friday (no lessons)

Our new unit is.....ELECTRICITY!!!
Please use this link to find an Introduction to Static Electricity lesson.
Tomorrow I will post another link for a lesson on Current Electricity. These two lessons will provide about 2.5 hours worth of work for this week. There is no need to complete all the work within two days - you may choose to spend 30 minutes each day this week to complete your Science lessons.
Practical activities this week will require common household items. All lessons can be competed without doing the practical activities, as I am aware that not all households will have all equipment, so please do not worry about this. You will be able to do your learning without completing the practical activities.
