Review lessons

THIS POST HAS BEEN UPDATED. PLEASE READ AGAIN.

Grade 8 Science

Hello students,

Since we finished classes before we actually we able to finish the unit on Cells and Systems, I would still like to conclude the unit with some type of worksheet to check your understanding. However, rest assured that this will be a formative worksheet (will not count towards your grades). You will complete some review tasks and I will post a link for the worksheet to do at home.

For this worksheet, the expectation is that you will complete this worksheet on your own without looking at your notes. I will then provide the answers on Friday and you can mark your own work to see how you went. I will not know if you used your notes, but as a test of your own knowledge and understanding, it is best if you treat this like a quiz at school.

So, for this week, I would like you to do the following:

Today (Wednesday):
Complete the 'Cells and Systems' Unit Review on page 169-171 of the textbook found on D2L. If you would like even more revision, throughout the entire unit in the textbook, complete the 'Check and Reflect' questions and 'Assess Your Learning' questions. Keep scrolling through the textbook unit until you find these review question sets. Alternatively, if there is one particular concept that you are unsure of, then go directly to this section of the textbook and work on this section for a while.

Tomorrow (Thursday):
I will post a link with the worksheet tomorrow. Complete this worksheet in a quiet space, without using your notes (yes, it will be tempting, but this is an opportunity for you to see what you have learnt).

Friday:
I will provide the answers to the worksheet. You are to mark your work and then go over the questions you got wrong and see if you can work out why the correct answer is in fact the correct answer. At the end of marking and correcting your work, you should have a great summary of the unit of work. You do not need to send me your results, but definitely email me if you are unsure of any of the answers.

Remember, at any time you have questions or need further clarification, please just send me an email.

On Monday, we will be starting our new unit!

Grade 9 Science

Hello students,

Since we finished classes before we actually we able to finish the unit on Biodiversity, I would still like to conclude the unit with some type of worksheet/quiz to check your understanding. However, rest assured that this will be a formative task (will not count towards your grades).

Complete the 'Biodiversity' Unit Review on page 84 of the textbook found on D2L.

The worksheet/quiz questions will be in the form of PAT-style questions, so they will be analysis type questions.

Friday:
I will provide the answers to the worksheet. You are to mark your work and then go over the questions you got wrong and see if you can work out why the correct answer is in fact the correct answer. You do not need to send me your results, but definitely email me if you are unsure of any of the answers.

Remember, at any time you have questions or need further clarification, please just send me an email.

On Monday, we will be starting our new unit!
