Grade 9 Science

Students completed their topic quiz last Thursday and have been learning about Genetics (non-heritable and heritable traits (both discrete and continuous), dominant and recessive traits and calculating probabilites using punnett squares and monohybrid crosses, including incomplete and codominance problems). 

For revision and further practice, students can read through pages 50-55 and complete questions on pages 54 (Check and Reflect) and 55 (Assess Your Learning) from the textbook. Additional practice questions can be found at the following websites:




Upcoming Assessment:
  • An assessable worksheet will be handed out in class tomorrow (Wednesday 11th March) for students to keep practicing and to obtain feedback on their understanding.
  • Starting Thursday, students will be investigating Threats to Biodiversity by watching a documentary and completing a question sheet in class.
  • Unit Final will be held on Thursday 19th March (final day of school before Spring Break)

Grade 8 Science

Students have begun learning about the different body systems (Digestive System, Respiratory System, Nervous System, Circulatory System and Excretory System). Extra information and review questions can be found throughout pages 126-153 of the textbook.

Students have been given an individual project on the Digestive System "Follow Your Food". An extension for all students was granted and the task is due tomorrow (Wednesday 11th March). A quiz for Topic 3 (Body Systems) will be held on Friday 13th March.
