Year 8 Science

Last chance for Light and Optics Unit Final re-test Monday 10th February.

On Friday 7th February, students were given their 'Cell Model' task. This is a project that requires students (in groups of 2) to make a model of a cell out of repurposed, recycled (and recyclable) and 'green' materials. Students must bring materials to class ready for Tuesday's lesson.

Coming up this week:
Monday - cells (the Cell Theory, structure and function of different cell types, organelles)
              - pages 103, 108, 109
Tuesday - working on cell model in class
Wednesday - working on cell model in class

Year 9 Science

Environmental Chemistry Unit Final re-test being held Monday 10th February. Students have been told that they must make a time to speak to me BEFORE sitting the re-test.

On Friday 7th February, students were introduced to their extended lab for this unit. This lab requires the completion of 12 stations and a booklet, which will be submitted and marked. A quiz on their understanding of the content of the 12 stations will occur in the coming weeks (date to be confirmed).

Coming up this week:
Each lesson this week, students will be working through the different stations, completing their workbook. Students should aim to fully complete 1-2 stations per lesson, depending on what the station requirements are (some will take longer than others). Extra support for the station content can be found in the textbook on pages 4-49.

Welcome back!

Hi everyone, This is just a quick post to touch base and check in on you all. How are you all going? I hope you were able to relax and refresh over Spring Break. The times ahead are certainly very different, but we are all here for you, so just take things one day at a time. You will soon be receiving emails from school about what learning will look like in the coming weeks. However, for my science classes, all the information you will need (instructions for lessons, content and assessment) will be posted on this blog, so stay tuned! If you have assessment still to submit ("Follow Your Food" for Grade 8 and the Genetics problems plus the "Racing Extinction" task for Grade 9, you can still submit these to my email. Any questions can be posted on this blog or emailed to me and I will respond as soon as I can. Keep safe and stay indoors, everyone! We've got this!! (*insert fist bump here*)
