Note: Topic 1 Quiz on Monday 3rd February.

Year 9 Science

Students participated in discussions about the impacts of Climate Change and received their new task. Students are required to come up with a question about the impacts of climate change to ask each of three stakeholders. This task will be collected from Monday 3rd February.

Note:  Unit Final (Environmental Chemistry) on Monday 3rd February.
Topics:
Acids and Bases (pH scale, H+ and OH-, measuring pH, neutralization, acid rain)
Nitrogen Cycle and human activities
Organic substances (structures and elements found in lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acid) Inorganic substances (effects of macronutrients and micronutrients on plants and animals)
Taking in substances (diffusion, osmosis, active transport, ingestion, absorption, substrates)
Monitoring water quality (water quality parameters, biological indicators, concentration, parts per million (ppm), human activity and impacts, LD50, biomagnification, bioaccumulation)
Monitoring air quality (parameters, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, ground-level ozone, The Enhanced Greenhouse Effect, climate change, the ozone layer)
Transporting materials (dispersion, groundwater, diffusion, biodegradation, phytoremediation, photolysis)
